Cultural Workers: Share Your Story
Record a video about the importance of your job and the services you and your co-workers provide in the community.
As cultural workers, our work is largely unseen and often taken for granted. As we face increased attacks and threats of budget cuts that will harm our communities and threaten our jobs, we need to fight back by sharing our stories to highlight the importance of our work and why we need to stand together to protect the services we provide to our communities.
Use the following prompts to help guide your video:
- Introduce yourself by sharing your name, job title, where you work and your union
- Tell us about what you do at work and how it impacts the communities you serve
- What would happen if the services you help provide lost funding or disappeared?
- Make a pitch for why we need to protect cultural workers like you and the resources that help support your work
Video Recording Tips
- Record the video on a computer camera or preferably a mobile device with a front-facing camera. You can also ask someone to hold the device for you.
- Hold the device still or prop it against a wall, book, or another object.
- Make sure your face is centered on the screen.
- Keep your videos to under 1 minute.
- Speak clearly yet forcefully: Be sure to enunciate.
